Our goal was to make politics, particularly local and municipal politics, engaging for our target audience. We aimed to cultivate their interest in politics through our solution, thus sparking a desire to seek further knowledge about national and local politics, especially among first-time voters.

Getting young men to engage in local elections despite them feeling it won't impact them.

problem

Our target audience comprises young men aged 18-22, first-time voters, who exhibit a lack of motivation to participate in both national and municipal elections.

Our goal was to enhance the enjoyment of politics, stimulate interest in both national and local political affairs, and encourage active engagement with the political process.

findings

At first, we explored two concepts, but ultimately, we decided to narrow down our target audience. We made this decision based on the observation that while young men are less inclined to participate in politics, they are more likely to download games from an app store.

solution

We developed a game where players construct their own city by selecting blocks that represent their personal interests. The game prompts users to seek out additional information independently. Moreover, players can unlock special blocks by engaging with political campaigns, such as scanning election posters.

lo-fi prototype

We aimed to design an app that was informal, lively, and infused with humor. Additionally, we sought a bright and youthful aesthetic while ensuring a level of simplicity to avoid further complicating an already complex topic.

test group

We conducted testing with a group of young adults aged between 18 and 22. Half of the participants were students, while the other half were employed. Furthermore, half of the participants lived at home, whereas the remaining half had moved out.

persona

After conducting user tests, we refined our target audience. Using the insights gathered from our research and tests, we developed a persona to serve as the foundation for our subsequent design efforts.
