Voxel World

This project is a concept for Sex & Society and The National Board of Health. We aimed to create a campaign to give young women the confidence to talk about their wants and needs with their partners. Our endeavours encompassed a fun and creative approach to the topic, as we had to figure out how to communicate about sex and pleasure, topics that can be very awkward to approach. Our initiatives focused on an engaging social media campaign with quizzes and a tongue-in-cheek tone of voice, to get the conversation started.

project highlight

How do you get young women to talk about sex and desires without making it awkward?

Research

We discovered a 30% disparity in the frequency of orgasms experienced by women during intercourse with their partners, prompting us to investigate the underlying reasons. We chose to concentrate on heterosexual relationships, where this difference was most pronounced.

findings

Our research revealed that the issue often stemmed not from partners' lack of attentiveness, but rather from women's own unfamiliarity with their bodies, desires, and the ability to express them without discomfort. How could we foster a safe environment for women to articulate their desires and needs?

visuals

We dedicated considerable effort to exploring the visual aspects of the project, seeking ways to depict and discuss orgasms. To accomplish this, we conducted interviews and workshops, inviting participants to paint or draw their sensations of orgasm. These submissions formed the foundation of our body-positive campaign on social media, designed to initiate open conversations about sex with a welcoming and upbeat tone.

visuals

Considerable time was devoted to creating mood boards and establishing an overarching vibe consistent with our research findings. To mirror the visual expression of the orgasms depicted in our workshops (and fortunately, we received a LOT!), we opted for predominantly hand-drawn or painted visual elements. This approach extended to our logo, initially crafted with black watercolor, then scanned and refined. Similarly, all minor elements underwent the process of hand drawing, scanning, and color correction to align with the original illustrations.
